Bob Spooner to join TWE as chief supply officer

TWE has announced the appointment of Bob Spooner, (ex-Premier Foods Plc) as the company’s new Chief Supply Officer.

Spooner replaces Stuart McNab, who will hand over responsibilities over the course of February, with his last day 27 February.

Over the past eight years, Spooner has worked as group supply chain director for Premier Foods Plc and was recently the CEO of bread business, Hovis Ltd.

Spooner will be based at TWE’s Melbourne office, but will spend a significant amount of his time at TWE’s many wineries and production facilities across Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Italy.

TWE chief executive, Mike Clarke said “I am delighted to appoint an individual of Bob’s calibre and capabilities. Having worked with him before at Premier Foods I know first-hand of his extensive experience in building highly efficient supply chain operations and I look forward to him bringing those talents to Treasury Wine Estates.”

In the 2014-14 financial year TWE posted a loss of $100.9 million, a significant decline on the $47.2m profit recorded the year prior.

In September, the company refused a takeover bid of $5.20 per share from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts &Co. L.P and Rhone Capital L.L.C. and later announced 33 jobs cuts as a result of the closure of McLaren Vale’s Ryecroft Winery.
