HMPS wins at South Australia food awards

Robotics and automation company HMPS has received the Stephen Moore Service Provider Award for its contribution to the South Australian Food Industry.

The wholly owned machine builders received the award in front of about 700 guests at the FOOD SA gathering on 24 November.

The company credits its success to remaining true to its values as a relatively small and close-knit team. Owner and Executive Chairman Mark Emmett and Chief Executive Shaun Westcott are both directly involved in the business, working alongside their team of close to 60 employees.

Teamwork is important, Emmett says.

“We come up with creative solutions and solve problems by having conversations, getting practical and trying out ideas – it is sort of like kids playing with meccano sets until they find the most perfect solution to the automation challenge.

“Each person takes pride in their work because they are creating and crafting – from only an idea, it is nurtured into drawings, animations, steel frames, conveyor systems, pneumatic circuits, control panels … until finally you have a product that moves at lighting speed and is packing products in all sizes and formations into cartons.”
