McCain has ordered the recall of nearly 2500 cartons of pizzas after fears the products were contaminated with metal.
The company’s 500 gram Family Cheese and Bacon pizzas were pulled from supermarket shelves across the country, including Coles, Woolworths/Safeway, Franklins and IGA in all states.
The pizzas that have been recalled have been marked with ‘Best Before March 2012 B 090’ or ‘Best Before March 2012 C 090’.
"Once it was realised these particular cartons had been shipped, the decision was made to recall the product," McCain Foods Australia Marketing Director Nicki Anderson said in a statement.
McCain is currently carrying out an investigation to find the source of the contamination, Anderson said.
Customers can contact the McCain Foods Consumer Service team on 1800 065 521 if they require further information.
