Product of the Year winners announced

Winners of the 2014 Product of the Year awards have been announced, with ALDI and Woolworths taking out the highly competitive categories of sweet treats and ready meals respectively.

The Product of the Year awards recognise innovation and excellence by means of a survey conducted by market research company Nielsen.

2014’s survey was completed by over 16,000 household shoppers who reviewed the products against criteria such as trial performance, value for money and overall satisfaction.

Amongst the most competitive categories for the awards were ready meals and sweet treats. Woolworths took out the ready meals category for its Bag N Bake product, while ALDI Chocolate Waves won the sweet treats category.

“Now in its fifth year in Australia, Product of the Year has become the nation’s ultimate litmus test of new product innovations as judged by the consumer,” said Sarah Connelly, director of Product of the year Australia.

“…Product of the Year acts as a trustworthy guide for navigating the retail market and takes the uncertainty out of purchasing a new product.”
