Shelter Brewing creating jobs

Busselton’s new brewery, Shelter Brewing Co, is on a recruitment drive in preparation to swing open doors this spring, and is holding a recruitment open day on Saturday 3rd October from 10am to 3pm.

General Manager Paul Maley said that the management team has been appointed and now it’s time to fill other roles.

“We have an excellent leadership team in place and now we’re looking to recruit between 60 and 70 of locals for roles on the floor, in the kitchen, in the brewery and behind the bar,” Maley said.

“We’re looking for team players, passionate locals experienced in hospitality who fit the culture of Shelter Brewing Co, which I like to describe as a kind of beachy, friendly professional.

“This will be our biggest intake of new staff and anyone interested in working by the beach, being part of a great team and providing excellent service should come along to our open day.”

Positions available include brewer, chef de partie, pizzaiolo, commis chef, apprentice chef, cook, kitchen hands, bar staff, floor staff and back-of-house staff.

Shelter is set to be one of the largest private employers in Busselton. City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley said that this injection of new positions in the local job market is welcome news.

“This is exactly what our community needs right now – new job opportunities and more money in the back pocket of local people. Not only will people directly benefit through employment, there will be spin-off benefits across the tourism, hospitality and retail sectors. I’m sure these new opportunities are going to drive a great deal of excitement among local people.”

Staff will be given training in Shelter Brewing Co operations ahead of the public opening anticipated before November.

“Overlooking the iconic Busselton Jetty, we believe Shelter is the perfect place for friends and families to get together over a good beer in a great venue with an incredible view – and we’re looking for a team that’ll turn that into a reality,” Maley said.

“We are really proud of Shelter and can’t wait to share it with the community and start welcoming them in.”

Situated on the Busselton Foreshore in Western Australia’s south west, the family-friendly brewery will provide an approachable and high-quality offering.

Shelter Brewing Co’s architecture is centred around the working brewing, which is open and forms part of the venue that features a floor-to-ceiling glass external wall that looks into the main brewery, indoor trees, a first floor multifunction room, an outdoor area for kids to play and a beer garden that takes advantage of the incredible ocean views.
