Taylors Wines wins Packaging Trophy

Family-owned Taylors Wines from South Australia’s Clare Valley has been awarded the ‘Excellence in Packaging Trophy’ at the Wine Industry LABEL Competition.

Taylors took home the trophy for its 2009 The Visionary Cabernet Sauvignon, just one month after the 2009 The Visionary Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded a ‘First Prize in Print’ at the International Design Awards (IDA) in Los Angeles.

Taylors Wines Managing Director Mitchell Taylor said it was an honour to be at today’s presentation in Sydney to receive the trophy.

“We released The Visionary Cabernet Sauvignon last year.  It is our pinnacle wine release and matched by a truly luxe packaging design. This is a project the whole Taylors team can be proud of, and this latest recognition is a testament to everyone’s efforts,” Mitchell said.

Each bottle of The Visionary is individually hand labelled, hand numbered and hand packaged in a bespoke design luxury gift box and outer sleeve. The outer sleeve of the gift box is features a large laser die-cut Taylors seahorse crest with a de-bossed foil block at the base. The inner gift box has been hand wrapped in black linen book cloth revelling in its sophisticated use of negative design space.

The label stock for each individually torn label and the dust jacket on the accompanying vintage booklet are presented on stock specially sourced from an Italian mill. Both the front label and the dust jacket feature a large blind sculptured emboss of the Taylors seahorse crest.

The hand sewn vintage booklet that accompanies each bottle of The Visionary details the history, vintage conditions, vinification and maturation of the wine.

“This is a wonderful wine that we hope epitomises Taylors, and the packaging tells the story of our family to the custodians of each bottle,” Mitchell said.
