Total drive solutions at NMW 2008

Drive solutions provider, SEW-Eurodrive, will demonstrate its total solutions approach for the manufacturing industry at National Manufacturing Week 2008, which will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, 27 to 30 May. The company will exhibit elements from its expansive and innovative electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical solution set, which make up the complete end-to-end drive solution-set.

According to SEW-Eurodrive engineering manager, Frank Cerra, Australian manufacturers are increasingly seeking out ‘one-stop’ drive solution providers. “Most Australian manufacturers don’t have the resources to engineer individual drive system components into complete solutions. More and more, manufacturers are demanding world-class drive solutions, from the gearbox through to the drive electronics, from a single supplier,” he said. “Here, SEW-Eurodrive leads the way. We work closely with a variety of Australian manufacturers and OEMs to develop one of the country’s most comprehensive end-to-end drive solution sets. This, coupled with our comprehensive drive engineering and service support, provides Australian manufacturers with an unrivalled complete drive system resource.”

Centre-stage at this year’s exhibition will be SEW-Eurodrive’s new CMP-series of locally assembled servo motors. Providing a lower-torque complement to SEW-Eurodrive’s popular CM-series servo, the new CMP-series servo offers advanced dynamics and accuracy in a compact form-factor. Like the CM-series, the three-phase permanent-magnet CMP-series servo is fully assembled in Australia, ensuring SEW-Eurodrive can provide manufacturers with uniquely fast turnaround on complete servo packages.

SEW-Eurodrive will also launch the next evolution of the company’s MOVITRAC LTE series of frequency inverters -the MOVITRAC LTE version B. Equipped with a range of new functions, the MOVITRAC LTE version B is ideally suited to low-power variable-speed drive applications, such as small fans and pumps, machine tools and conveyors. The MOVITRAC LTE version B is fast and easy to set up, boasting an innovative integrated DIN-rail snap-in mounting capability, plus 14 standard and 26 extended configuration parameters. This straightforward mechanical and electrical installation, ensures that basic drive applications are ‘up and running’ in minutes.

Visitors to National Manufacturing Week 2008 will be rewarded with a sneak preview of SEW-Eurodrive’s soon-to-be extended DR series of energy-efficient induction motors. SEW-Eurodrive will underscore its industry-leading position in end-to-end drive system efficiency, with the extension of its DR series to 45kW. Featuring optimised design and including advanced cast-copper rotor technology variants, the extension to the DR series promises to provide Australian industry with new levels of motor efficiency.

SEW’s innovative PLC/motion controller hybrid, MOVI-PLC, will also be on show. Specifically designed to support members of the unique SEW-Eurodrive frequency inverter solution set, the MOVI-PLC product family combines both conventional PLC control and ‘motion control’ into a single compact platform.

Accompanying the MOVI-PLC, will be SEW-Eurodrive’s renowned MOVIDRIVE ‘B’ application inverter. This advanced unit offers Australian manufacturers and OEMs an application inverter of optimal versatility, processing power and cost-efficiency, and is available in large power capacities.

Another product on display at the exhibition includes SEW-Eurodrive’s decentralised drive system, MOVIFIT. Tailored for field installation, MOVIFIT provides the flexibility, scalability and powerful connectivity required to support Australia’s advanced manufacturing applications.

A selection of SEW’s X series of industrial gear units will also be showcased. Comprising 23 different models–each with a different torque rating–the complete X series boasts the finest torque-graduation on the market, providing Australian manufacturers with unrivalled gear unit choice and flexibility.
